New York’s most unique after school leads children through a creative adventure,
using acting and music to build a collaborative community.
Kids Creative is a New York City nonprofit organization that offers arts-based, peace education programs for Pre-K to middle-school age students through after-school programs, workshops and summer camps.
Parents and teachers are amazed by the energy, enthusiasm and confidence we generate in their children as we equip them with the skills to be creative and give them the tools to become peace builders. We educate the whole child and our afterschool programs offers classes in the Arts, sports, yoga, homework help, peace and culture and more. All activities are linked by a common peace-building thread which includes mottos such as "all ideas are good" and anti-bullying rules, including ‘no teasing or fake teasing, no fighting or fake fighting.’ Students share ideas, collaborate with others and perform a show that is completely from their imagination each semester.

Position Available: Kids Creative Site Director (After school program at PS 102)
Primary Function: The primary role of the Site Director is to ensure that the program is safe, enriching, and fun and that Kids Creative’s goals for children and the community are being realized.
Work Hours: 1:30-6 PM, Monday – Friday plus bi monthly Staff Trainings
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Supervises: Head Teachers, Assistant Teachers Counselors
Reports to: Executive Director and Program Director
Job Responsibilities
o Supervise all on site program staff and participants
o Ensure a safe and engaging environment for program participants
o Ensure compliance with all DOH and host school procedures
o Responsible for collecting parent fees in coordination with Kids Creative Fiscal Department
o Liaison with host site staff and meet regularly with designated school staff members such as custodians, PTA representatives and principals to ensure that the program is in-line with established goals
o Creatively market the afterschool program to parents through meetings and other activities
o Interface with stakeholders and other important visitors to tell them about the program, introduce them to students and staff and lead a tour of the program
o Maintain all required administrative records and files according to program requirements and applicable regulations
o Attend mandatory meetings at the main office and submit monthly financial reports
o Ensure that all staff have received, reviewed and comprehend the policy, procedure and the curriculum Manual
o Run regular staff meetings
o Collaborate with HR and Executive Director in Hiring /firing program staff
o Collaborate with the Program director to support the curriculum implementation process and conduct teacher evaluations
o Ensure that schedule is followed
o Initiate and organize functions such as performances, exhibitions, field days, etc.
o Initiate and organize community service and leadership opportunities for students as appropriate
o Submit fiscal reports to Kids Creative
o Maintain the youth services database
o Report staff hours to payroll officer on a bi-weekly basis in a timely fashion
o Oversee the ordering and maintenance of supplies
o Attend and/or lead professional development activities which may, on occasion, take place outside of regular hours
o Complete end of year paperwork.
Qualifications:
o Qualified candidates must have a college degree, at least 3 years experience in an academic/recreation setting with children, and at least two years supervisory experience
o Qualified candidate must be able to multitask between supervising and administrative task on a daily basis
o Qualified candidates must have a strong commitment to children. Must be willing to learn and implement new strategies to inspire students to be positive, thoughtful, and motivated to work hard and take risks. The ability to inspire positive teamwork, initiate and follow-thorough with minimal supervision, work under pressure, adapt to changing priorities, and balance competing deadlines a must. Impeccable references are a must. A Masters level degree in a related field is a plus.

· Lead a teaching team in instructing and managing a group of approximately twenty (20) children, conducting theatre based group activities and homework help sessions (typically one hour in length) that are developmentally appropriate.
· Engage students in a process that includes ensemble building activities, brainstorming, improvisation, script writing, rehearsal, and performance skills to create an original play and develop skills they will apply in performance.
· Collaborate with Art and Music Instructors to prepare a performance of their original play each semester. This will be shared with parents and the school community.

Title: Assistant Group Leader
Primary Function: The Assistant Group Leader supports the Head Group Leader in collaborating with students from K-8th Grade to create an original story based on their own ideas. The Assistant Group Leader will also work with students during homework help and group activities. They serve as first responders in mediating any conflicts or personal issues that may arise and are also responsible for addressing the basic needs of the students in their group.

Title: Music Instructor
Primary Function: The primary role of the Music Instructor is to guide students from K-5th Grade as they collaborate to create original music based on their own ideas, lead lessons aimed at developing their musical skills and record and produce a CD with the music created. They will rotate between one or more groups throughout the week. The semester culminates in a performance of each group’s original music. This may also be part of a performance of an original play created though collaboration with a theatre instructor (where applicable) where the music is based on the story of the play. The Instructor must ensure that they are meeting each child’s physical, social, and emotional needs during their lessons in accordance to our standards.

Title: Peace and Culture Specialist
Primary Function:
The Peace and Culture Specialist guides students K-5th Grade in lessons aimed at developing students understanding of each other, their differences and ways to work together. They will rotate between groups throughout the week to lead activities in peace development, collaborating with students to create a community project based on the student’s ideas. The Peace and Culture Specialist also guides children through the process of peaceful problem solving, working one on one with students to help children resolve disputes respectfully, guiding them to reach a solution that they can agree to whenever possible.

Job Responsibilities:

· They are also responsible for helping teachers with behavior management by supplying a support system for teachers. If problem arises in afterschool, the Peace and Culture Specialist will help resolve conflicts and find resolutions to maintain the integrity of the afterschool experience for each student.
· They may help Head Group Leaders and Assistant Group Leaders in supervising children during intake, snack time, bathroom time, lining up and transition between classes, home work time, group time, free play (if applicable) and dismissal.
· Guide young children as they work together to create a community project that responds to issues important to the group which could include creating dance, music or theatre pieces, PSA’s, Murals, Can Drives and Fundraisers etc.
· Lead group building games and activities and develop conflict resolution skills through theatre techniques such as role plays and skits as well as small and group discussion.
· Plan, implement and submit lessons aimed at developing the afterschool community and promoting peaceful choices and conflict resolution skills.

Kids Creative is a New York City nonprofit organization that offers arts-based, peace education programs for Pre-K to middle-school age students through after-school programs, workshops and summer camps.

Position Available: Kids Creative Site Director (After school program at PS 102)
Primary Function: The primary role of the Site Director is to ensure that the program is safe, enriching, and fun and that Kids Creative’s goals for children and the community are being realized.
Work Hours: 1:30-6 PM, Monday – Friday plus bi monthly Staff Trainings
Salary: Commensurate with experience

Job Responsibilities
o Supervise all on site program staff and participants
o Ensure a safe and engaging environment for program participants
o Ensure compliance with all DOH and host school procedures
o Responsible for collecting parent fees in coordination with Kids Creative Fiscal Department
o Liaison with host site staff and meet regularly with designated school staff members such as custodians, PTA representatives and principals to ensure that the program is in-line with established goals
o Creatively market the afterschool program to parents through meetings and other activities
o Interface with stakeholders and other important visitors to tell them about the program, introduce them to students and staff and lead a tour of the program
o Maintain all required administrative records and files according to program requirements and applicable regulations
o Attend mandatory meetings at the main office and submit monthly financial reports
o Ensure that all staff have received, reviewed and comprehend the policy, procedure and the curriculum Manual

Qualifications:
o Qualified candidates must have a college degree, at least 3 years experience in an academic/recreation setting with children, and at least two years supervisory experience
o Qualified candidate must be able to multitask between supervising and administrative task on a daily basis
o Qualified candidates must have a strong commitment to children. Must be willing to learn and implement new strategies to inspire students to be positive, thoughtful, and motivated to work hard and take risks. The ability to inspire positive teamwork, initiate and follow-thorough with minimal supervision, work under pressure, adapt to changing priorities, and balance competing deadlines a must. Primary Function:
The Peace and Culture Specialist guides students K-5th Grade in lessons aimed at developing students understanding of each other, their differences and ways to work together. Work Hours: 2:30-5:30 PM or 3:00-6:00PM Mondays-Fridays
Locations: Manhattan (PS 11, PS 102, PS 191, Heschel, Columbia Grammar) and the Bronx (PS 536)
Job Responsibilities:
· Instruct and manage a group of approximately twenty (20) children in peace and culture classes (typically 45min-1 hour in length) that are developmentally appropriate.
· Manage and supervise a teaching team (group leaders, counselors and interns) where applicable.
· Collaborate with the teaching staff to ensure that their team meets each child’s physical, social, and emotional needs during their lessons in accordance to our standards.
· They are also responsible for helping teachers with behavior management by supplying a support system for teachers. If problem arises in afterschool, the Peace and Culture Specialist will help resolve conflicts and find resolutions to maintain the integrity of the afterschool experience for each student.
· They may help Head Group Leaders and Assistant Group Leaders in supervising children during intake, snack time, bathroom time, lining up and transition between classes, home work time, group time, free play (if applicable) and dismissal.
· Guide young children as they work together to create a community project that responds to issues important to the group which could include creating dance, music or theatre pieces, PSA’s, Murals, Can Drives and Fundraisers etc.
· Lead group building games and activities and develop conflict resolution skills through theatre techniques such as role plays and skits as well as small and group discussion.
· Plan, implement and submit lessons aimed at developing the afterschool community and promoting peaceful choices and conflict resolution skills.
· Collaborate with the Program Director to develop semester outlines and lesson plans
· Share created material with Kids Creative each semester.
· Establish and promote Kids Creative’s “C” Values for community and peace building in the classroom.
· Communicate with parents (and Site Director) regarding positive and negative behaviors of children.
· Attend staff meetings and bi-monthly staff professional developments.
Qualifications: Qualified candidates must:
· Have at least a BA and 3 years experience working with youth in arts based programs.
· Have knowledge of a variety of dance techniques and cultures.
· Have a strong commitment to youth development and should be familiar with common pedagogical practices
· Have experience creating and implementing lesson plans and collaborating with other teachers/artists
· Be able to commit to working from October thru June
· Be amiable to fingerprinting and security clearance by NYC Dept. of Education
· Display all of the qualities that we seek to instill within our students, such as confidence, creativity, an ability to resolve conflicts peacefully and a love for art.
· Can model and guide children through the process of peaceful problem solving.
· Able to improvise creative solutions in reaction to new developments or new information on the spot
· Can encourage children to actively engage with what each member of the group is expressing
· Be excellent team players and leaders, able to bring the best out of their co-workers
