The beginning of March marks Kids Creative’s first expansion into Brooklyn!

We’ve been working closely with Principal Ulysse, Assistant Principal Valmon, and Edu Hermelyn, who connected us with PS 221 originally. Together, we’re bringing the KC philosophy of peacemaking to their community, providing the same arts and peace-based programming that we provide at our Harlem and Bronx sites. We’ll be taking our award-winning Create-A-Play program to the site, along with homework help and other youth development activities to focus on building confidence and engaging in the world.

“It is always exciting and challenging to add new sites,” DJ Rouzeau, our Executive Director, explains. “The excitement of providing services to another school community is so refreshing and fulfilling that it really energizes the staff.” It’s that energy and dedication that’s made it possible for our team to come together to put new structures in place to make our expansion as smooth as possible while keeping our philosophy in everything we do.

With this transition, we also want to take a moment to thank our generous supporters, as without them, continuing and building on our mission for a more peaceful world wouldn’t be possible. Additionally, if you or someone you know is interested in bringing Kids Creative to a new school, visit this page to learn how.
